Christ is Risen!
Alleluia!

The Easter Proclamation, known as the
"Exultet
" from its opening word in the Latin version, is an ancient
hymn chanted by the deacon over the Easter candle which is lit
at the start of the Easter Vigil on Holy Saturday evening.
It appears to have been in use in the Roman liturgy from between
the 5th and 7th centuries. To read text
of this very ancient hymn, CLICK
HERE.

Vigil, CLICK HERE. |

Oh
Ye of Little Faith – Doubting Thomas
April
19th is Divine Mercy Sunday. It couldn’t have
come on a better day. The gospel tells us the most famous
apostle story after Peter’s denial—Thomas’ sceptical and outrageous
statement that he won’t believe it till he sees it. He finds
compassion, not stern judgment, when Jesus gives him what he asks
for. To find out why there is great hope for people like him who
are weak in faith, visit the following link: http://www.crossroadsinitiative.com/pics/Doubting_Thomas_Mercy_for_Doubters.pdf

WHY DID JESUS
FOLD THE NAPKIN?

This is one I can honestly say I have never seen circulating in
the emails so, if it touches you, you may want to forward it.
Why did Jesus fold the linen burial cloth after His resurrection?
The Gospel of John (20:7) tells us that the napkin, which was placed
over the face of Jesus, was not just thrown aside like the grave
clothes.
The Bible takes an entire verse to tell us that the napkin was
neatly folded, and was placed separate from the grave clothes.
Early Sunday morning, while it was still dark, Mary Magdalene came
to the tomb and found that the stone had been rolled away from
the entrance.
She ran and found Simon Peter and the other disciple, the one whom
Jesus loved. She said, 'They have taken the Lord's body out
of the tomb, and I don't know where they have put him!' Peter
and the other disciple ran to the tomb to see. The other disciple
outran Peter and got there first. He stooped and looked in and
saw the linen cloth lying there, but he didn't go in. Then Simon
Peter arrived and went inside... He also noticed the linen wrappings
lying there, while the cloth that had covered Jesus' head was
folded up and lying to the side.
Was that important? Absolutely!
Is it really significant? Yes!
In order to understand the significance of the folded napkin, you
have to understand a little bit about Hebrew tradition of that
day. The folded napkin had to do with the Master and Servant,
and every Jewish boy knew this tradition. When the servant set
the dinner table for the master, he made sure that it was exactly
the way the master wanted it.. The table was furnished perfectly,
and then the servant would wait, just out of sight, until the
master had finished eating, and the servant would not dare touch
that table, until the master was finished.
Now if the master were done eating, he would rise from the table,
wipe his fingers, his mouth, and clean his beard, and would
wad up that napkin and toss it onto the table.
The servant would then know to clear the table. For in those days,
the wadded napkin meant,” I’m done".
But if the master got up from the table, and folded his napkin,
and laid it beside his plate, the servant would not dare touch
the table, because..........
The folded napkin meant, "I'm coming back!"
He is Coming Back!
For those of us who still read the bible, we know of this. However, I
thought we should share this with those, who may have forgotten
the significance of the folded napkin. Please share this with
all of your contacts. They would enjoy reading this. Have a
blessed day!

ADULT FAITH EDUCATION SERIES: THE GOD DELUSION
and other errors in logic.
By Dr. Tim Lau
These ADULT FAITH EDUCATION lectures were
given at St. Augustine Parish on Thursday
February 5th, 12th & 19th: The series investigates the following questions:
Is the belief in God a delusion? Is religion the reason
we go to war or the root of all evil? Does evolution exclude
God? Is God a ‘blind’ watchmaker? Are we nothing
more than cells in the service of some ’selfish’ genes? What
does it mean to be human?

Listen to and Read Text of the Latest Men’s
Breakfast Talks:

On
SATURDAY, MARCH 21ST – Tim Kennedy gave an excellent,
inspiring and very passionate talk regarding Catholic
education of our youth entitled “ Our Living Sacrifice: The Transformation of our World by the Renewal
of Our Minds.” It dealt with the crisis facing
our Christian and Catholic education. In the current high-school
system (unfortunately, also including the Catholic Board), our
youth are conditioned to be “conformed to the world”, and, thus,
are ill-equipped to defend their faith “with their minds”. Tim
not only has an excellent grasp of the causes of this crisis,
but more importantly, a clear and realistic vision of the hard
work and sacrifice it will take to renew a failing school system
that is endangering the souls of our youth. To listen to voice
file, and read the text of Tim’s talk, click HERE.

The Special
Mercy Novena celebrated on Parliament Hill continues
on Parliament Hill until Divine Mercy Sunday, April 19th.
As the Divine Mercy icon is carried in procession around Parliament

the Novena intentions, prayers are also said for the intentions
of the Pope, our Archbishop, and for our country. This is the
17th such annual Novena organized by the friends of St. Joseph.
We meet at the Centennial Flame (near the corner of Wellington and Metcalfe) at 6:15 AM,
and the Novena lasts about 30 minutes. There is plenty of free
parking available at that time. (Contact Paul Lauzon 613-565-2325,
