It
is summer season! Along with that, come various vacations. Please
be sure to check out this VM homepage often and don’t forget to
check back in the archives to past issues in case you missed something.
Maybe you were away, or your VM editor was away, or the VM webmaster
may have been away. Also, there is the case of all of the above
being here and maybe not getting the info from one to the other
in a timely manner.
Did you know that there was a van available? An
air conditioner? Even summer employment.
Did you see the birth announcements?

Two praise
reports follow and this:
CNA - Catholic News Agency
July 20, 2006
VATICAN CITY, July 20 (CNA)
- The Press Office of the Holy See released, today, a communication
from Pope Benedict XVI declaring this Sunday a special day of
prayer and penance for peace in the Middle East.
The communiqué states, "The Holy Father is following with
great concern the destinies of all the peoples involved and
has proclaimed this Sunday, July 23, to be a special day of
prayer and penance, inviting the pastors and faithful of all
the particular Churches, and all believers of the world, to
implore from God the precious gift of peace."
"In particular," the message continues, "the
Supreme Pontiff hopes that prayers will be raised to the Lord
for an immediate cease-fire between the sides, for humanitarian
corridors to be opened in order to bring help to the suffering
peoples, and for reasonable and responsible negotiations to
begin to put an end to objective situations of injustice that
exist in that region; as already indicated by Pope Benedict
XVI at the Angelus last Sunday, July 16."
Dear friends in Christ,
Re my recent prayer request. I do not remember all to whom these
prayer requests were sent but praise reports serve to strengthen
our faith so I hope that you will forgive me if this is the first
you are hearing about these two.
Our neighbour had been claiming rights to a piece of our property
that she had been using to get to a parcel of land she legitimately
owns on our side of the river. She claimed that she did not know
where the 'boundary markers' were. Partially because of this,
our first Buyer backed out of the deal. She knew very well that
she was deliberately encroaching as she has to deed to prove her
claim. Our Buyer offered to pay her, not for the part she was
claiming, because it is not hers to sell, but in order to prevent
her from harassing him in the future. Since my request for prayer
she has spoken to our Agent claiming that she never wanted our
property, and does not want any money from the buyer as the property
is not hers to sell, and that it would not be right to take his
money. What a complete turn around! The hand of God was definitely
in this. Praise the Lord! Would you please pray for our Agent
Shelly, who has a similar situation with one of her neighbours.
Who says that God does not answer prayer? Our God is an awesome
God!
Thank you for the prayers.
In Christ,
Diane
Dear Myles,
My name is Lisa Burelle, and in February
you probably received an email just like this one asking
for prayer because I was at death’s door after a blood vessel
burst in my brain.
I’m writing you personally to share how God answered your
prayers, and how good He has been to me in the last few
months.
After it happened, I felt nothing…no pain, no fear, no worry.
I remember nothing. I am missing two months of my life.
I remember a little bit about that
day. I went to work for a meeting at CBMI. I don’t recall
the meeting or my associates there. Apparently I said I
had a headache and stepped out at the lunch break. I called
a dear friend and asked if she could come and pick me up,
something about my head hurting, and I couldn’t see. She
immediately recognized the symptoms and phoned my other
colleagues at CBMI. My brain was beginning to seizure. Within
a few minutes I became comatose as my dear friends delegated
my care to the ambulance drivers.

I remember a little bit about that day. I went to

lunch break. I called a dear friend and asked if she could come
and pick me up, something about my head hurting, and I couldn’t

colleagues at CBMI. My brain was beginning to seizure. Within a
few minutes I became comatose as my dear friends delegated my care
to the ambulance drivers.
When my husband Roger arrived at the hospital, the doctors told
him I needed a brain surgeon in Ottawa, as no one in Toronto was
available at the time. They also told him he needed to immediately
call the family. We have 4 young children. How could my husband
explain to them that mommy was desperately ill and may die?
God had His hands upholding me and my family from the very beginning.
I was airlifted to Ottawa where our precious Aunt and Uncle live.
Our children love them as grandparents and would be taken care of
tremendously. Roger was not alone. They took care of everything,
including our children.
Although the surgery was a success, my prognosis decreased shortly
afterward. On the scale from 1-15, I was only a 3. Also, my body
was bombarded with several infections; Ventriculitis, Pneumonia,
and C. Dificile.
But you were praying for me. Colleagues and church friends began
prayer chains. Friends called everyone and held 24-hour prayer vigils
in their homes. You joined people around the world, from Canada,
to Africa, to Europe, to Australia.
I am so thankful for your perseverance to pray for my recovery,
for my life. The next morning my body registered a 10.
I was brought back to Toronto and spent the next two months at various
hospitals, recuperating.
My husband and children have weathered the storm and have recovered
beautifully. They have been so blessed with the realization of the
power of God’s prayer, and the power of His love for us. They’ve
witnessed a miracle. A miracle, which has changed us all forever!
Some people have asked me if I experienced “The light” or, “Did
I see God”. I’m afraid I don’t have one of those amazing stories…but
what I did experience is God’s peace. I never felt fear, pain, discouragement,
anger, or loneliness.
Friends I made in the hospital asked me how I could be so relaxed,
and not afraid or angry. This question gave me the opportunity to
share my faith with them. It is so amazing when God opens doors
like those. God did not “appear” to me, but surely filled me with
an unending peace I have never felt before. My daughter also says
He gave me some extra laughter!
God is good, and He listens to His people when they pray. From my
family, and me thank you for praying. I praise Jesus for friends
like you.
In His name and in prayer,
Lisa Burelle,
